How We Started
Adoption Finder, Inc is a non-profit with locations in WY & TX. We were founded by Heather Mellott. The organization was inspired by a vision Heather had. One day she was sitting at her desk working and started to see a vision of an app. The best way she can describe it is like a movie reel of what it was supposed to do and functions to help bridge the gap in our society with abortion and adoption. The Holy Spirit prompted her to see this idea out and make it a reality.
Heather feels a deep sense of passion and has answered the call to start this non-profit and although she is not a mother yet, never had an abortion, or never has been pregnant or even adopted, God has given her this deep desire to help people who are hurting. God has given her the desire to help those without a voice and she will do all she can in her power to follow through with the vision God has placed in her life.
She started with researching the topics of abortion and adoption. Heather found that there is a need and that this is a viable solution in our society today. The world health organization says there’s approximately 40 million documented abortions worldwide annually. Currently in the USA there are approximately 2 million couples waiting to adopt. There is a need for both women who feel alone and like they have no other options, but there are also many couples/people that feel like something is missing in their lives. (There is a ton more research I have, these are just two examples).
Heather managed to find some developers on Fiverr that would help build the first app for her on iOS and Android. Through this whole process, God has been seen in the little things. Heather says, “I feel like many people think God is going to answer or speak to them in this grand way, but often it’s the subtle interactions or encounters we have daily. After months of development, we just launched our app on both platforms at the end of July 2019. I filed the legal paperwork to be a legal entity and here we are today. We are doing everything we can to grow and share the word with other organizations and people who want to join the cause.”
Our Main Audience
Adoption Finder, Inc strives to bridge the gap between adopting families and unplanned pregnancies. We are able to make this possible with our innovative, user friendly app available for Android and iOS users. Our unique app is here to help pregnancy centers and adoption agencies make the most of their organization, goals, and missions. Our app also provides a way for women with unplanned pregnancies and people waiting to adopt the opportunity to connect, chat, create a profile, see who is nearby, and see who would be a good match. Our goal is to provide more resources and programs in the future that includes housing, counseling and support groups, educational classes, pregnancy resource centers, and more.
Now we are just trying to raise awareness and raise funds to continue onto the next phases of this vision which is to start working with adoption agencies, pregnancy resource centers and eventually, our goal is to launch our sponsoring programs for families/couples and women with unplanned pregnancies.
We want to change the standard in our society to something greater and higher. We want to see the number of abortions reduced dramatically and the number of adoptions increase. It is our hope that we can raise more steady funding to be able to sponsor families who are wanting to adopt and sponsor women with unplanned pregnancies. We are in the business of making the world better, one life at a time.
